The two perpetrators of these horrible killings also took their own lives that tragic day.

Life was cut far too short for all these people. Rachel's legacy, along with the other victims' legacies, live on. This site is dedicated to all the victims of the shooting.

The Columbine High School massacre occurred on Tuesday, April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado. Two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, committed the horrific crimes. It was said that they were bullied and were considered outcasts. Twenty-one students were also injured trying to escape.

The incident raised a lot of concern about gun control, bullying, and violence in movies, video games, and music. Some laws have been passed about these topics following Columbine.

Early warnings surfaced, but no real action was taken. Eric and Dylan created a website, talking about their anger against society and peers, especially Christians and athletes. They recorded tapes about their hatred, and many people viewed them after Columbine. The website has since been deleted.

Eric and Dylan originally planned to set off bombs in the cafeteria at the busiest time of day, killing hundreds of students. They would then shoot the survivors trying to escape. When emergency personnel, media, and law officers arrived at the scene, bombs would be set off from their cars killing them too. This plan did not happen due to the bombs failing to detonate.

When the cafeteria bombs failed, they decided to shoot at people and try to kill as many as they could. At 11:19 a.m. they fired at Rachel Scott and Richard Castaldo, who were sitting outside of the school eating lunch. Rachel was killed instantly by four gunshot wounds, and became the first victim of Columbine. Richard was hit eight times, and suffered major injuries, but was not killed. They then fired down the West Staircase, wounding Sean Graves and Lance Kirklin, and killing Daniel Rohrbough. Teacher Patti Nielson noticed the commotion and ran into the library, telling students to get under desks and remain silent. She then dialed 9-1-1. At approx. 11:24 a.m. a police officer arrived and started firing at Eric and Dylan. Eric fired ten shots at the officer, who then called for backup. Dave Sanders and a student were coming up a staircase, and Eric and Dylan shot at them, missing the student, but hitting Dave. The student ran to a science classroom to get help, and Dave made it to the classroom. He bleed to death there.

Most of the fatalities occurred in the library. At 11:29 Eric and Dylan entered the library, where fifty-two students, two teachers, and two librarians were hiding. Kyle Velasquez was curled up under a computer table, and was shot and died. They then fired out a window at police officers, and then fired under computer tables, killing Steven Curnow. More shots were fired under computer tables, killing Cassie Bernall. They then walked over to another set of tables, where Isaiah Shoels, Matthew Kechter, and Craig Scott, Rachel's brother, were hiding. They screamed racial slurs at Isaiah, the last words he would hear before he would pass into eternity, and then shot him, killing him. They then fired at Matthew, killing him. Craig lied there in the blood of his friends, remaining uninjured by playing dead. They then fired at Lauren Townsend, killing her. John Tomlin was then shot, and trying to crawl out, was kicked and shot again and died. Kelly Fleming sat by a table, not underneath, because there was not enough room, and was shot and killed. Daniel Mauser was then hit by a table, and died. They then fired at Corey DePooter, fatally wounding him. Corey was the last victim to be killed in Columbine. The two walked out of the library at 11:42, ending the massacre. People in the library then fled the room.

They then went to the cafeteria, and other places around the school, before going back to the library and committing suicide at approx. 12:08 p.m.

Living students were then taken to Leawood Elementary School or the public library to be reunited with their families. Other families weeped over the loss of their beloved family.

A lot more happened that day, and this was just a quick overview. More information is available online, and many books have been written about Columbine, including Rachel's Tears, a book written by Rachel's parents.

    1. C'mon man. Not true, and horrible to try to take your piece of the tragic pie. If you were 22 when you penned this in 2015, that would've made you 6 years old at the yime of Columbine. I pray for whatever brokenness inside you compelled you to claim something like this, but this is 100% false.
